i play pokemon

Pokemon is the only videogame I play.

This is Ho-Oh, the legendary rainbow Pokemon! Ho-Oh is the only Pokemon that can hold the item 'Sacred Ash', it's a draw-string bag of ashes that heals your entire party. Instead of holding a lumpy bag, this Ho-Oh is holding a branch from an ash tree, hahaha!

anyway this is a medium screenprint, about 16"x21" printed on this interesting/annoying fabric-like rice paper. you can see that I still suck at registration.

find your pack

This tiger really wants to hang out with these zebras, but he has no idea what he's doing. I feel like this a lottt.
Anyway, this is a 5-layer print with two split-fountains, my first split-fountain!!!

Salmon Days

When it's summer, this song is always running through my head: Do As Infinity - Summer Days
When I was younger I really disliked eating salmon, but this summer I became very interested in eating salmon whenever possible....a trend towards eating healthier? anyway, I really like summer, these cooler days are unsettling and I've already started coughing.

Picture Book Report

a little while back I was featured on Meg Hunt's sweet Picture Book Report project. The page is here and this is the book excerpt:

“I often crouched down and watched with bated breath as a scrap of paper or a leaf writhed and changed its shape within the flames. The bonfire reminded me of when I had seen my father’s bones at the crematorium, and as the sight had not alarmed me, I began to think about his bones every time we burned the leaves, rerunning the memory over and over again in my mine until my father’s bones gradually became divorced from other memories and simply remained a close and familiar thought.”

July July

These five are mixed media pieces for my illustration final this past semester. Completed sometime mid-May.
Silkscreen, collage, thread, paper, paint and ink on wood. 30"x40"
the theme was to interpret "normal"

edit: you can view some of the in-progress photos on my twitpic account

hand over waves

school is slaying me but i'm having a good time
this term is weird, for the first time in years i am working mostly with traditional media in large format (collage, silkscreen, wash). it's quite fulfilling, but also means the images aren't conveniently on my hard drive to share (and I don't own a scanner). must work on taking good photos..

i'm working on a group book project called STATIC FISH, the bare-bones blog is here: http://staticfish.blogspot.com These images are the cover and also spot illustrations of just kind of coked-out looking paranoid fish. The cover is silkscreened with a layer added in photoshop (the light white over the figure.)
anyway, the book should debut at MoCCA, it's like 60 pages of full color dreamyness.

here are also some spot illustrations I did for the Prattler

Mother goose

Classes have started up again.

Mother Goose rhymes are pretty weird, you can do a lot with the imagery. This was one attempt for my Children's Illustration class, but the result is too editorial-like so I'll have to try again.

pull me inside out

final and sketches. the initial sketch has a male figure, but that was too masculine for the assignment, so i redrew as a female. BUT no one can tell it's a female, so i'll probably end up redrawing a third time... :{

Good morning!!!!!

one of eight tiny illustrations for my publishing/zine class. will post the others later along with photos of all the books I've been making! This is by far one of my favorite classes all term.

the bunny's names are Otis (hat) and Ceaser (smaller one), although i guess it doesn't really matter what they are named..? a friend of mine asked if they were me and my sister and I'm fine with that, too :) anyway I think they live on the moon or something.
